Why should I become a Christian?
There are a lot of reasons why it is right to be a Christian. Here are some of them. Other people may tell you more.
It is your duty - God made you and He owns you and has the right to tell you what to do. He wants you to respond to the love which He has shown in sending His son Jesus into the world to die for you, and because this is what God wants you have a duty to obey.
God has chosen you - The Bible tells us that those who God had already chosen he called and put right with himself. Romans 8 v 30. If you feel that God is calling you to follow him it is probably because he is calling you.
God's love - God loves us so much that he gave his only son for us, and because his love for us is so great we should love him back in return.
Heaven - After death we will all have to stand before God and be judged. Either we will go to Heaven and spend forever with God or we will go to Hell where we will be left with pain and with devils and evil. Not one of us will be found to be good enough to go to Heaven. The only way we can be good enough to be with God is to be forgiven because Jesus has died to pay the penalty for our sins. This means believing in Jesus, which is being a Christian.
Fellowship with God - We are cut of from God by the wrong things we do and think and say. If someone becomes a Christian his sins - all these bad things- are forgiven and he can talk to God in prayer and know fellowship with God in his life.
A Purpose for Life - Many people do not know why they are here or what they should do. A Christian knows that his life has a meaning and a purpose - to serve God and enjoy him forever.
Forgiveness - There are probably things in your life which you know need to be forgiven. There are many things which only God can forgive, and Jesus died for you so that you can know that God has forgiven you.
Fellowship with other Christians - Although you may lose existing friends and family if you become a Christian you will find many new friends in other Christians.
Happiness - If you are a Christian you will be in contact with God, which will give a joy you cannot know any other way.
